Abstract:Given the notable differences in gas and water production among the three coalbed methane (CBM) cluster wells in the DC1 group of the Dahebian block, researchers conduct a comprehensive analysis through means such as 3D seismic exploration and microseismic monitoring to assess the impact of micro-fault structures on their gas and water production. The results show that the daily water production of well DC1-1, which is not affected by faults, is low and difficult to increase, while wells DC1-2 and DC1-3, affected by faults, have high daily water production and great gas production potential. Faults promote water exchange between coal seams and aquifers, resulting in significant differences in the hydrochemical characteristics of the wells in the DC1 group. Groundwater activities near fault zones change the composition and isotope characteristics of produced gas, and transform the gas genesis. In addition, faults change the physical properties and stress of coal reservoirs and affect the fracturing effect. The research provides support for the efficient development of coalbed methane in complex structural areas.
