Environmental Engineering and Water Treatment Technologies
Research Focus:
Focusing on key scientific and technological challenges in industrial wastewater treatment, with emphasis on advanced treatment and resource recovery of fluoride-containing wastewater, biofilm control technologies, and optimization of wastewater recycling processes. By integrating polymer material technologies with process engineering methodologies, this research develops efficient, low-consumption, and sustainable wastewater treatment solutions.
Key Technologies:
Fluoride-Containing Wastewater Treatment: Optimizing fluoride ion removal efficiency through combined processes including chemical precipitation, flocculation sedimentation, and membrane separation, enabling wastewater reuse and fluorine resource recovery.
Biofilm Control: Investigating biofilm formation mechanisms and inhibition strategies, developing anti-biofouling coating materials to reduce equipment maintenance frequency.
Process Optimization: Optimizing wastewater treatment process parameters through process simulation and data analysis, reducing energy consumption and chemical dosage.
Representative Achievements:
Achieved over 70% recovery efficiency for fluoride-containing wastewater, resulting in annual cost savings exceeding SGD 500,000.
Developed anti-biofouling coating technology applied in Singapore's maritime and industrial water treatment sectors, significantly reducing equipment maintenance frequency and extending operational lifespan.
Research outcomes published in journals including Frontiers in Microbiology, International Journal of Biological Sciences, and Carbon Research, with related technologies validated through practical applications in industry.
